The Abington Heights School District was formed in 1964, when individual, nearby school districts (Clarks Summit School District, Waverly School District, and Newton-Ransom School District) combined. Currently, the Abingtons are a growing community of eight boroughs and townships located about eight miles north of the City of Scranton. Neighborhoods in our communities offer unique advantages of suburban living with handy shopping, easy transportation, fine municipal services, and a wide range of recreational opportunities. In 69 square miles of Lackawanna County, we are home to more than 20,000 residents.
