Make Up Test Policy
If you are absent from class on the day of a scheduled test, you are obliged to take the test the day you return to class. You must seek approval from me if you prefer to take the test during a study period during that day, rather than during class. You must obtain my signature on your destination pass in order for the study proctor to excuse you. If your study period precedes physics class, you must have me sign your destination pass prior to home room: come to room 511 between 8:00 and 8:15 A.M. Failure to gain permission to take the test during a study period will always result in the test being completed during class. It will be your responsibility to make up missed work, which will proceed as you take the test. There is never a guarantee of silence. Your study period may coincide with a class I may be teaching. You are welcome, nevertheless, to take your test!
If you develop a pattern of absence from class on testing days, you will forfeit the extra credit offered on the test. The problem that is written for extra credit will be graded as part of the test. You may be given another version of the test, where a given problem written in multiple choice format is replaced by another problem, where all work must be shown - the replacement problem may or may not be equivalent in complexity. Participating in a school-sponsored field trip is an excepted excuse from the policy above.
