The diagrams illustrating the problems and their solutions found in this web presentation have been constructed by Mr. Kovall.  Feel free to use my diagrams to enhance the process of learning.  If, however, you use any of these diagrams to establish your own web page, or to produce handouts for your students, please do not assume ownership.   Demonstrate the necessary courtesy, by directing the attention of your viewers to this web page.  A simple footnote will do.

The AP Physics, Honors Physics and Chem I, L2 Web Presentations in Mr. Kovall's Neighborhood are undergoing construction, with new links being established each day .

All Honors Physics students are required to complete two major projects:

The first is a basswood bridge, as specified by the International Bridge Building Competitions, annually sponsored by the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago.

The second is a mousetrap powered vehicle, as specified by Widener University.

This car was designed by B. Sorokanich (2004)

The cars designed for the 2005 Abington Heights Mouse Trap Powered Car Project were required to negotiate a track having a ramp/sand trap and a curve at the far end.  Running lights were added for extra credit.

The Order of the Flaming Rainbow was established, during the 1999-2000 school year, by that year's Honors Physics class.  This fraternal order is a special subsidiary of the Captain Kovall's Kadet Club, an academic club whose members are exclusively Mr. Kovall's Physics students.  The Kadet Club inducted its first members in 1987, and has been growing since.  The photo to the left was taken by senior Nathan Zander, and involved extraordinary effort to portray Rainbow's dynamic role in class.  Yes, Rainbow,  Mr. Kovall's unassuming secretary!  Once her winged cape is attached, anything is possible.  Rainbow has been known to strap herself to a projectile cannonball, and to blast through the air barely missing the hot flames of a lighted bunsen burner.

During subsequent school terms, Honors Physics students will have the responsibility to establish their own Order, with their own mascot and logo.
