2/Welcome to Mrs. Michaels's website. 2011-2012

Homework and make-up work can be found on Moodle.  Students absent the entire class period/day are to find their assignments on the FCS website under Absentee Assignments. All assignments are to be handed in on the day of return to school  Students are to pay attention to the due date. Students who fail to meet the assignment deadline will not receive credit.   Assignments serve as a substitution for the class activities and the points assigned will correlate with the assignments/points earned in class that day. All class notes, powerpoints, activities, and worksheets are available on Moodle  as well as class syllabus and all 4 quarter project instructions and rubrics. All reading material associated with class work, prerequisite readings associated with class assignments, and/or necessary to participate in class discussions, may also be found on Moodle

 Students MUST be responsible for missed assignments/tests/quizzes when they are absent, within 2 days of absence or they will receive a "0"

9/19&9/20   Assigned Group Theorist Visual. Students chose partners and  Theorist was assigned by lottery. Assignment and rubric was discussed. Theorists were reviewed and project was started. Theorist Visual assignment and rubric is on moodle. See Mrs. Michaels for group and Theorist.
9/21&9/22   Group work on Theorist Visual. If you are absent today, you must type a 2 page essay on your assigned theorist instead of completing the project.

Theorist Visual Tour Review-Students tour projects grouped by theorist and one volunteer from each theorist explains the theory. Theorist Test administered. Make arrangements to take the Theorist Test during your study hall!
9/29&9/30   Students chose groups and chose topics lottery style for !st Quarter Wellness Project Information Sheet. Students reviewed requirements and rubric for this project. Students viewed the video "Pediatric Brain Development" Students completed "Multiple Intelligence" survey. results and discussion of Howard Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligence followed. Unfortunately this video may not be made up. Take Multiple Intelligence Survey in Brain Development packet and score your results.
10/13&10/14  Wellness Information Guide due (50 pts.) Staple rubric to paper! 1st Quarter Project Information Guide is an individual paper researched and done by each student. Discussion of Howard Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligence theory and individual results.  Students viewed "Brain Development" PowerPoint and took notes in "Brain Development" packet pertaining to Multiple Intelligence and  'Right and Left hemispheres"..(Questions 16-19). Students took part in "Right and Left hemisphere" Activities. Brain Development PowerPoint and packet are on moodle.         Complete questions (16-19)  in the packet. 
10/17&10/18 Any Wellness Information Guides handed in today will receive one-half credit of earned score. Students  discussed and took notes from Brain Development PowerPoint on Music and the Mind. The Mozart Theory. was discussed. Questions (20-23) Students participated in the Music Reflections Activity in which they heard different types of music and reflected on the questions provided on the Music Reflections page in the Brain Development packet. Brain Development PowerPoint and packet are on moodle.         Complete questions (20-23)  in the packet. Read the Mozart theory in the packet. The Music Reflections Activity cannot be made up.
10/19&10/20   Students took notes in the Brain Development packet on the Types of Memory and questions 1-4 in the "How Children Learn" section of the Brain Development packet. using the PowerPoint and discussion. Students viewed the video, "The First Years Last Forever" .Students recorded and submitted 10 full sentence facts from the video for a 10 pt. quiz grade. 12/6&12/7 Child Care Presentations Child Care Mind Map Presentations. Students explained the advantages and disadvantages of their assigned Day Care Type while explaining the symbols that they chose to represent each fact.  Observing students took notes in their graphic organizers during presentations.  
12/8&12/9   Students completed Child Care Presentations. Students analyzed and applied their knowledge of Child Care Options to various situations. Distributed and discussed 2nd Quarter project (powerpoint) 2nd Quarter Project is on moodle. Same groups as 1st Quarter Wellness Information Guide.
