| 2-16 | Student will read Act I, Scene I of Julius Caesar in small groups and complete study guide questions. Students will find an example of humor in Scene I where Shakespeare uses a play on words. Copy the quote, line numbers, and explain the humor. Also, students will write a 1 paragragraph summary of scene I. All assignments will be worked on together in groups and then finished independently for homework. | Students will be introduced to meter in poetry. We will be reading several poems to label the accents and identify the type of meter used. |

They will complete the study guide, write a 1 paragraph summary, and write an 8 sentence journal entry for the following characters: Caesar, Antony, Brutus, and Cassius in which they recount the events so far. | Continuation on meter. |

They will complete the study guide questions, a one paragraph summary, and a foreshadowing activity worksheet for the scene. All work is begun in class with groups and completed independently for homework. | Students will learn about the various pauses in poetry and how they contribute to rhythm. We will read and discuss several poems and students will be able to explain how the various pauses affect the poem. |
