Shakespeare's Sonnet Assignment

1.  Browse through the sonnets either on-line (http://shakespeare.mit.edu/Poetry/sonnets.html) or in the library books and select one that appeals to you.

2.  Analyze the sonnet by identifying the overall message and the three images used to support that message.     Here are some resources to help you:  http://www.shakespeare-online.com/sonnets/

3.  Find a minimum of four pictures (videos, collages, original artwork, clip art, photos, etc.) to represent each of the quatrains and the final couplet.

4.  Find music that reflects the mood of the sonnet.

5.  Using Audacity, record your music and yourself narrating your sonnet.

6.  Combine your music, photos, and narration with a copy of the sonnet divided into four sections.

7.  Add a final panel in which you summarize the meaning of the sonnet in a sentence or two.

Tips for using Photostory 3

1.  Before starting with Photostory, collect all your photos onto one folder.  If you are using Internet Explorer to find photos, right click on the photos you want and select “save picture as” and select the folder you want to use for your photo collection.  Do not copy the photos into a Word document.

2.  There are two types of files you can save.  The file created by “Save Project” is a mswmm file which can be used to continue to edit the show but it cannot be transferred to another computer.  When you are done with the Photostory, be sure to keep hitting “Next” until you render the video as a wmv.

You must keep proceeding through the process until you get to the screen pictured below.  Change the filename (left side of screen, middle box) from Photostory1.wmv to something else such as yourname.wmv  If you leave it as Photostory1, someone else may upload a file with the same name and erase yours.  Be sure to keep the location text and .wmv in the filename box.  In the example below, you would keep \TK\Videos\ and the .wmv (i.e. \TKVideo\yourname.wmv)   Just replace "Photostory1" with a unique name and keep everything else in that box.  Then click "Next", not "Save Project".  You can "save project" if you want to continue to edit it but for the one you send to your teacher or play on another computer, you must click "next" so that it will render the video as a wmv.

Photo Story Save wmv

3.  One way to get music from a CD to use in your photostory is to download the free program CDex.  To find it, just Google CDex and it will be the first link or go to http://cdexos.sourceforge.net  You will not be able to download or install it on school computers.

4.  If you want to use music that can be found in a Youtube video, you can find the video, copy the link and past it into http://mediaconverter.org  or http://www.zamzar.com  and select convert to mp3. If you use Zamzar, you will need to do this from home because both zamzar and youtube are blocked at school.  You will need to use your home email address because the email from zamzar will not be accepted into you school email inbox.

5.  When you are ready to turn-in your wmv file to your teacher, you can upload it to http://www.schoolupload.com

6.  When you save your photostoy, be sure to give it a file name that identifies your name.  Use your last name in the file name so your teacher knows who submitted the video.
