| Contract: This is a contract that every Abington Heights
wrestler is to read, agree to the terms, sign, and return within the first two weeks of
the season. Before returning the contract to your coaches, a parent or parents must read
and sign the contract as well.
Parents are then invited and strongly encouraged to attend any
practice during the second week of the season to observe practice, to have any questions
answered, and to support their son's decision to pursue this great sport.
- 1. Wrestlers are given a two-week "grace period" during which time they can
decide if they are willing to commit to themselves and the team. After this two week
period, wrestlers are not to quit the team for any reason.
- 2. Once a wrestler has committed to the team, he must attend all practices,
competitions, and other team functions. If a wrestler is injured, he is still to come to
practice and competitions to learn, help the team, and workout in whatever capacity they
are capable of.
- 3. If you are sick or have a doctor's appointment, you must contact a coach to let them
know.
- 4. Wrestlers will do their best to make the strongest team possible. This means
encouraging your teammates, setting an example by working hard, and by pushing your
partner to do his best every day.
- 5. It your commitment to the team and yourself to pay close attention to instruction.
- 6. By the same token, you have an obligation to yourself and your workout partner to
push both he and yourself to the limits on a daily basis.
- 7. Wrestlers are to maintain, if not improve, their grades throughout the season. If you
need help, you will talk to one of the coaches immediately (before eligibility reports
come out).
- 8. Wrestlers are to abide by school policies. Extra conditioning will be the
penalty for missing or being late to two (2) practices. Missing or being late for practice
on three (3) occasions will result in a suspension from one (1) competition.
- 9. Wrestlers will strive to become not only better athletes, but to improve themselves
academically, mentally, and emotionally; to become the very best they can be in all areas
of life.
